LEAVE A LEGACY
JOIN OUR LEGACY CIRCLE
We hope you will consider including a gift to House of Mercy in your will or living trust—called a Charitable Bequest. This type of gift will help support our mission to make sure that we continue to serve the Northern Virginia community. For more ways to include House of Mercy in your estate planning, see other options below.
BEQUESTS
Making a gift through your will or living trust is one of the easiest ways to give into the future. With your legal advisor’s assistance, you can include language designating your favorite charities such as House of Mercy as part of your estate plan.
DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS
Donor-advised funds are one of the fastest-growing, easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to support a charity. They allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then direct donations wherever they choose. There is a lot of flexibility with this type of fund, and you can contribute to the fund as frequently as you like.
GIFTS OF STOCK
Maximize your gift and income tax deduction by donating stock. By donating stock directly to House of Mercy, you can avoid recognition of capital gain and eliminate any income tax resulting from the sale of the stock.
IRA QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION
If you are 70 ½ years old or older, every year you can ask your IRA Administrator to transfer up to $100,000 to go directly to a non-profit organization of your choice. Because your gift goes directly to a qualified charity, the IRA distribution is excluded from your adjusted gross income and will offer tax benefits for you.
