COVID-19 Ways To Help

Our Food Pantry is still open to anyone in need!
Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm

While our donation center and thrift store have suspended operations, we are still serving our food pantry clients.  We are in need of food and monetary donations to continue to serve the community.  We have suppliers who can still ship us food so monetary donations are most needed.

Food, gift card, and monetary donations are accepted Monday-Friday from 10:00am – 4:00pm at our food pantry receiving door located at 8170 Flannery Court, Manassas, Virginia.

While you would normally enter through the front of the building, during this time, we will be operating out of the food pantry receiving door located in the back.  Knock on the red door and return to your car.  A staff member will be out to assist you.

What is needed

Thank you for your continued support of House of Mercy during these difficult times, below our director, Jessica Root, updates you on the pandemic status of our services and needs moving forward.

Food Pantry & Client Services

We are still serving about five to six times our normal number of client families each week. Many family members have lost their jobs temporarily or permanently. Some have lost their homes and are living in motels. Some people are unable to come out of their homes and we are able to deliver food to them.

Some people are picking up food for family members, neighbors, or friends. Everyone has a story. But in the midst of all this pandemic chaos, House of Mercy is here to serve our neighbors in need. We are still in need of food and monetary donations to help keep the pantry open! Last week (5/18-5/22) we have more or less emptied our shelves. We are now purchasing large amounts of food which costs a lot of money, and we are only able to purchase certain items as they are available. If you are willing to host a food drive, please contact us!

Thrift Store & Donation Center

The Thrift Store and Donation Center is still closed. We know our customers and donors are anxious for us to re-open and we can’t wait to see you! But, we ask that you continue to be generous and patient.

Unfortunately, we are not able to re-open for many reasons and until there is a specific set of circumstances.

  1. The Stay at Home order needs to change for our area (currently scheduled for this Friday, May 29)
  2. We need enough space in our Donation Center to accept incoming donations
  3. We need enough volunteers who are willing to come back to help process the donations and work the Thrift Store
  4. We need enough staff to oversee all Thrift Store and Donation Center operations (currently all staff are attending to client needs through the food pantry)
  5. We need enough volunteers to attend to the food pantry and client needs in order to free the staff to attend to the Thrift Store and Donation Center operations.

There are many things to consider in order to make a good decision as to when and how we can re-open. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you when that day comes. Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page as we will be making announcements there when decisions are made.

Monetary Donations

We want to thank everyone who has really stepped up during this time to help keep House of Mercy open – we could not have done it without you! But, we want to encourage you to continue to donate as you are able. Unfortunately, we predict that we will not be generating enough revenue in the coming months to get back to where we were pre-pandemic, so we are counting on all of our generous donors to continue supporting us through this time! To Donate, please go to GIVE NOW above.
