A Resounding Success: Chair Jefferson’s Inaugural World Hunger Day Proclamation!
What an incredible day! We’re thrilled to share the resounding success of Chair Jefferson’s inaugural World Hunger Day proclamation, which took place at the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) meeting on Tuesday, May 13th. Thanks to your overwhelming support, the event was a powerful testament to our community’s commitment to fighting food insecurity.
The atmosphere at the McCoart building was truly inspiring, filled with a shared sense of purpose. It was wonderful to see so many come together to support this vital initiative.
At 2:00 p.m., the meeting officially kicked off with Chair Jefferson announcing the World Hunger Day proclamation. Representatives from our incredible partner organizations were present and joined the Chair near the podium for this important recognition. The organizations represented included:
- Northern Virginia Family Services
- House of Mercy
- ACTS
- PWCC Foundation
- Northern Virginia Food Rescue
- Masroor Mosque Food Pantry
Each organization received a physical proclamation from Chair Jefferson, acknowledging their dedication and impact. Following the reading of the proclamation, Chair Jefferson joined representatives in the atrium for commemorative photos, capturing the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.
This inaugural proclamation was a significant step in raising awareness and mobilizing action against hunger in our community. We are incredibly grateful for the passion and commitment demonstrated by all the organizations and individuals who participated.
