Programmatic Updates: Strengthening Our Commitment to Serve in 2025

At House of Mercy, we are continually adapting our programs to better meet the needs of our community. After careful reflection and a thoughtful reevaluation of our services, we’re excited to share several key programmatic changes that are now in effect as of February 2025. These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to serving families and individuals facing hunger and poverty with the dignity and care they deserve. Here’s an update on the improvements we’ve made and what’s ahead:

Reopening Client Registrations

In September 2024, we made the decision to temporarily pause new client registrations to focus on the increased demand for services and assess how we could better meet the evolving needs of our community. During this pause, we also conducted thorough reviews with existing clients, resulting in 350 clients graduating from our programs.

Starting in February 2025, we are reopening new client registrations on a monthly basis. This measured approach will allow us to continue providing high-quality services while maintaining our commitment to offering support where it’s needed most.

Returning to Free Clothing Vouchers

Another significant change we’re introducing is the return of our Free Clothing Voucher Program. In 2024, we made the difficult decision to offer a 50% discount on clothing vouchers, as we reviewed how best to balance our resources. However, we recognized that even with reduced prices, many families were still unable to access essential clothing.

Effective February 2025, we are pleased to reinstate free clothing vouchers for all clients. This ensures that our community members can access clothing and essentials through our thrift store without financial barriers, making a crucial difference in their daily lives.

Continued Focus on Client Care and Support

Our mission is to assist all who need help, regardless of income level or circumstances. We understand that poverty and hunger can take many forms, and we remain committed to treating every person with respect and dignity. Whether someone is experiencing homelessness or struggling to afford groceries, we meet clients where they are in their journey.

We will continue offering client reviews and graduation appointments, helping families transition toward greater self-sufficiency while providing ongoing support for those who need it. We are committed to a no-judgment approach and ensure that every individual feels valued and cared for throughout their experience with us.

Thank You for Your Support

These programmatic changes are made possible by the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers, and community partners. Your generosity enables us to make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve. We are incredibly grateful for your commitment to our mission, and together, we are continuing to strengthen the fabric of our community.

We look forward to serving you in 2025, as we strive to create a year full of hope, resilience, and positive change.
